Email: March 18, 2019 - Butterflies everywhere. The slowest fastest week

Howdy strangers.

Well this week has been an interesting week. I have learned so much this week about the atonement and repentance and it has helped me understand how it applies to me. By far the biggest lesson I have learned on my mission. I think Heavenly Father decided I need to be humbled and kicked in the butt.  However, as He always is, He is totally right and it was exactly what I needed.

This week was full of meetings, but we still got some solid proselyting time in.

First, we had interviews with President on Thursday which was super good, as always. I hold so much respect for President Haynie, I am sure he has so much to deal with, but he is always able to encourage and uplift me.

Then we had exchanges. Not much happened on our exchange but I got to know Elder Evans, so it was great.

On Saturday the Northridge ward had the ward talent show as a fundraiser for girls camp. It was honestly just the pick me up I needed this week. We had a lot of fun with the members, got to know them better, had amazing food and got to watch some awesome talents.

On Sunday we had an awesome sacrament meeting that had some great talks. We went out and hit our area hard because we wanted to be absolutely exhausted so we could enjoy P-day even more. And guess what? There was absolutely nothing. Nobody on the streets and nobody at their doors so we got discouraged pretty fast. However after dinner we wanted to show Heavenly Father we care. So, we decided to continue and go to this huge apartment complex to see what we could do. In the end we walked out with a new friend to teach and a return appointment with a potential. Although the success wasn't crazy it was something and it shows Heavenly Father cares as well

That's is to for this week. My spiritual thought I want to leave comes from Helaman 5 but is not the verse you think. In the chapter heading it says how Nephi and Lehi devote themselves to the work and their names remind them of the righteousness of their ancestors. So, there are things we can take from this.

1. It is so important to be a righteous example for everyone, not just our family

2. Family history is super important if Nephi and Lehi didn't know about the original Nephi and Lehi, their names wouldn't hold the power that it did to them. The stories of their family gave them an example to follow and a goal to set. Without this, Nephi and Lehi may not have devoted themselves to the work. But thankfully with all this, they were able to work miracles and prepare a righteous people (though a small amount of righteous people) to receive the savior when he would come

So, this week's take-a-ways are.

1. Repent because the joy from repentance beats out any pleasure the world can offer

2. Be a righteous example

3. Know your family history

I love you all and hope everyone has a wonderful week!
