Email: June 3, 2019 - The Sheriff and the deputy survive an earthquake

That's right everybody there was a small earthquake this week. I was honestly kind of confused when it happened. For a second I thought maybe there was a demon in our apartment as everything was shaking, then we chalked it up to our neighbor’s downstairs. Finally, it took until our district leader called to make sure we were okay that we realized it was an earthquake.

This week has been longer than usual, but it has been so much fun! Elder Seipel and I have been running around crazy everyday just pounding the streets and we are going to be even busier this week.

We had a lot of cool conversations this week and have a good amount of appointments for this coming week.

Also, something that has been pointed out to me this week is that I am very quiet when I walk around the apartment. I have come to this knowledge because I have scared Elder Seipel many times this week just by walking into the room or a separate room. For example, it was the end of the day and I was sitting in one of our recliners and I got up to ask Elder Seipel a question. As I entered the room it scared him so bad that he fell on the floor.

All in all, it's been a good week. We have some high goals that we are excited to reach personally and in our missionary work.

I came to the conclusion that other day that I really want my last 6 almost 5 months of my mission to really mean something, I want to grow a lot more personally and spiritually and really finalize and seal off my mission. I have been told a lot to not fall backwards when I get home and get stuck in the same routine and I don't plan to. I still have a lot of questions about my life after the mission, but I am sure as I keep growing that I will figure things out.

I want to close with something that, or rather someone who, stood out to me in my personal study. That person is Amulek

I learned this past week just how awesome Amulek was. He was a hardened closed off man with a bunch of wealth and friends. He didn't want to hear what the Prophet had to say and was content with what he had. But one experience changed his life and he accepted Alma. As Alma began to preach again, Amulek felt like he needed to share his newly found testimony. I am absolutely certain Amulek was filled with fear and questions as to what would happen to him if he were to stand and testify with Alma, but he still stood. He declared boldly and contended with Zeezrom and was able to confound him, but most importantly he was loyal to his testimony of Jesus Christ and loyal to Alma as a friend and missionary companion. When we look closely, Amulek is just a small slice of the kind of person that Christ was.
