To start this off let me just say this. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO COOLEST SISTER EVER!! Thanks Rebecca for being such a good friend to me and especially being patient when all I wanted to do was my own thing and just ignore everyone else.

We pretty much didn't do any proselyting this week because we were so busy. And as I'm sitting here writing this in a laundromat and man comes in and instantly begins to call us liars in front of the entire laundromat. Alright, I'm back, Elder Styer was trying to proselyte and liar guy started to yell so I had to get involved, but we are back now. It was kind of funny because the people in the laundromat are super nice and chill. One guy even looked at me and said "there's always got to be someone" then went over and talked to liar guy just to have him stop. The mission sometimes.

I believe I forgot to mention this last week, but our mission president does this thing called Sunday surprise. I don’t know if this a common thing among mission presidents or not. Basically, what it is, our mission president, without any warning or notice, will show up to a random ward sacrament meeting. After sacrament, they will take our keys and go inspect our apartment and see how clean it is. So, President and Sister Haynie show up for fast and testimony meeting and I start to panic a bit because I am not exactly the most organized, but thankfully they had another meeting to go to in the PV zone, so we lucked out a bit. It was nice to see president speak in Japanese to our investigator Masaru. We also got a text from the Torres family saying they don’t want to meet anymore because they won’t be converted.

Monday: this week’s p-day was pretty lame. It was all chores, but it was still somehow fun. Elder Styer got the glasses that he needed with Elder Williams, while Elder Ashby and I waxed the car for zone conference. It was fun to just cruise around town. After p-day ended we had a dinner with a part member family. Their story is odd because the father (the non-member) is a full on dry Mormon. He pays tithing, has a calling, is more active than most members, wants his son to go on a mission, loves the missionaries and yet something is stopping him because he doesn’t want to be baptized and I don’t know what it is. Anyway, this guy is a food chemist and his job is to help restaurants build their menus. He made chicken alfredo. It was straight up some of THE BEST food I have ever had in my life

Tuesday: We went up to the mission office so I could take my driving test and get my card so I can drive. And guess what? I passed, AND I’m now designated driver because Elder Styer doesn't want to drive anymore. We also had apartment inspections. We got a 98, so even though we went down 2 points from last time, we are still in the celestial zone. We also started a district wide game of tag and however is "it" by the last district meeting of the transfer, has to sing a duet as the opening hymn. We had dinner at Bishop Paullins beach front home again. Sister Paullin is honestly the nicest person I have ever met in my life. She has treated us pretty much as her own children and she looks for the good in everyone she meets, I freaking love her. She asked me what I wanted for dinner and I sheepishly replied "chicken stroganoff". She replies "I have never heard of that, but you better believe I will make it, and she actually did! It was sooo good. Sorry Mom, I think hers might have topped yours.

Wednesday: Again, a lot of driving with taking Elder Styer to his dermatologist appointment and then to ZLC. We had an awesome lesson with Masaru and finished lesson 5 so he just needs his interview and then he will be ready for baptism. He has asked Elder Styer to baptize him and for me to confirm him.

Thursday: Today was zone conference and it was super good. We did 8 role plays each dealing with the different steps necessary for baptism and conversion. In one of my role plays President Haynie sat in and observed, as well as evaluated, and I was the one to be evaluated. I was ready for president to start naming off a list of things to do and improve. But to my surprise he was really impressed and couldn’t think of anything. So good job me? Our car got a 9 out of 10 on the inspection. We got knocked a point because we had Homer the Penguin on our dashboard.

We had dinner at another part member families home and they made THE BEST carne asada that I have EVER had, it was so amazing.

Friday: We had exchanges today and I was actually able to stay in the area for once since I can drive. It was fun, but also super stressful to lead out the area for the first time. We had district and zone meeting today. Elder Cox and I had to miss zone meeting though because Elder Halverson sprained his ankle and we forgot to grab him crutches on the way to the meeting, so we had to go back and grab those. On the way down, Elder Albuquerque called us asking to grab him another pair of pants because he managed to rip his in the 10 minutes we were gone. So, we also had to run over and grab those. We then also remembered we needed to get the STLs their money for the t-shirts they got everyone (I'll send a picture). By the time we got back to the church building, zone meeting was already over. But we still had district meeting.

For district meeting Elder Styer and I gave a training on companionship unity (ironic right?) During the week we asked some members from Manhattan Beach and Redondo 3rd to help us out with the role play and be "investigators" so when we announced the role play and had the "investigators" come in, everyone was caught off guard. Also, we switched up the companionships, so everyone taught with a new companion. It was a lot of fun and I ended up teaching to Elder Retamales, the zone leader (he is super cool)

Elder Albuquerque, who is from Brazil, was my companion for today and he is a lot like me, so it was a pretty funny day. We had to go to Enrique's to pick up the loaner car (a.k.a, the golden nugget) because our bumper had some damage (not my fault. I wasn’t even in the car when it happened). I like the loaner car a lot better because it has better power steering. But the brakes are a lot worse and require a lot of pressure. They told us to make sure everything we wanted was out of the car because we may not get the car back before we get transferred, and what do you know, I left my prescription sunglasses in the car. Pray for me.

We had lessons planned for the evening but they both fell through which means the evening was completely free, and it stressed me out a ton, because I had no idea where to go or what to do. But we lived

Saturday: The day was pretty slow. We did some finding in the morning and then went to the Stake Center to fill out some reports and do some weekly planning. Not much more than tha.t

Sunday: 6 hours of church. Not much more than that.
