Email: April 22, 2019 - The Beach Boys Surfin USA
Welcome back everyone and hello from
not the surf capital of the US but a place that still has a lot of surfers and
the beach.
Where should I begin? How about
this, let me start by saying it feels so, so good to be back.
As most of you know and for those of
you who don't I am now living the missionary life in Manhattan Beach aka my
mission home as this is where I was trained. Manhattan Beach hasn't changed at
all, but the ward has, quite a bit actually. Since I was last here a year and 4
months ago, a lot of people have moved in and moved out, and with the Lawndale
ward merge, it makes that statement even more true.
Our missionary work this week
consisted of us placing almost all of our focus on setting training
appointments with all the members that we could and we saw a lot of success
with it. The entire next week is packed with appointments and a few
appointments set for the following week as well so we are going to be very
busy.
This week we took some time to walk
the strand so the public could see us and as well so we could talk to people
and we saw a decent amount of success.
On the strand there is a very blue
house and in this house there are two large figures of Mike and Sully from
Monsters Inc. The guy who owned these statues happened to be on his patio as we
walked by and so we got to talking with him. He is a super nice guy and he
knows a lot of people in the neighborhood, so we are hoping to actually be able
to teach him.
As we continued our journey, we also
talked to another young man who called us over. We chatted with him as he
chilled in his hot tub. He is a cool guy and has some friends who are serving
missions.
Easter Sunday was awesome! Not only
was Sacrament really good, but we also got to teach the Primary kids the Easter
story and it was a lot of fun.
I got to see so many "old"
friends this week like the Mckinzies, Fakatoumafis, Paullin, Stelter, Brother
Rose and best of all, I got to see Masaru Akashi!
It was so awesome to see my first
convert again and what added to it was the fact that they meet with Bishop on
Sunday about going to the temple together and I am so happy!
I am grateful that Heavenly Father
is so loving and that he has brought me here to see the fruits of my labors
from over the past year and a half and I am grateful for the chance that I have
to plant more seeds and work hard.
It's crazy to think that between
Lawndale and Manhattan Beach I have spent almost half of my mission here and
since they are combined now, it feels almost as if I have been here my entire
mission. It is honestly crazy to me that I am back.
My new companion is Elder Meraz. He
only has 3 months left so it is looking like I will be the one to finish him
off and if that is the case, then I will be here in Manhattan Beach for a
while.
Life is great, the mission is great,
this gospel is great, and the atonement of Jesus Christ is great.
I hope you all have a great
week!
