Entering the MTC - November 8, 2017
Kyle was due to report to the MTC at 12:30 so final preparations were made. Rebecca took Kyle out to breakfast, although he was hesitant to go because he didn't have a companion. We assured him that going with his sister was totally fine.
After finishing adding all of the clothing he wanted to take, we weighed his bag and determined it was over the 50 lb. limit. We then removed things he would not need at the MTC and will ship them to be at the mission office when he arrives there. Being able to easily ship things to him sure makes it convenient. Since Cory served in Houston, we have not had the experience of having to deal with international shipping. We took a few last photos before departing for the MTC.
We were able to pick up Cory from Dev Mountain where he has been attending coding boot camp for the last few months. It worked out that he was on his lunch break. When we arrived at the MTC we were surprised to see that it seemed we were the only ones there. Granted, we were the first group to arrive that day so maybe everyone was running late. We then found out the reason was because the procedure for dropping off missionaries had changed. Maybe it got backed up later but it sure was efficient when we arrived. We were directed to the underground parking garage in the new MTC section which caused us to lose connection with Deanna who was watching us via facetime from home. Fortunately, Jessica was also filming as a backup. As we entered the parking garage, missionaries were in a long row waving at us as we entered, making us, especially Kyle feel very welcome. We thought that was pretty cool. We continued up one of the parking aisle and then stop to unload Kyle. His host met him and allow us to say our final goodbyes. The few cars behind us were also going through the same procedures, so we did not feel rushed at all which was awesome. Here are a few photos and the video of this experience.
