Email: August 20, 1028 - The Best Week Ever?
Hello, hello! This week has been an awesome week! So many great things happened. So, let me tell you about it. We also have a p-day extension today, so my p-day will go until the end of the night.
Monday: We decided to live it up this P-day. I'm sure I already mentioned this, but Elder Terry (my MTC companion) is also a district leader in the Torrance North zone. So obviously we hung out with Elder Terry and his comp. We also spent some time with the Redondo 2nd sisters. We decided to go swing by the Palos Verdes area and man, that place is an absolute beauty. If you ever want to go for an awesome drive, go here.
We were driving on top of cliffs looking out over the ocean. Eventually we decided to go on foot and hike around. We go right down to the coast and since it was rocks and not sand we got to be inches away from the ocean. We got some awesome pictures. And since we have the extended P-day we are going to go back and watch the sunset there.
Tuesday: pretty good day. We spoke with a lot of people on the street and we were able to set some return appointments.
Wednesday: The most legendary day of my mission so far. We got approval to do a district leader exchange. So, I got to go with Elder Terry back to Manhattan Beach. It was such an awesome day. We got fed well. Had our studies in the park. Had some unplanned opportunities to teach in the park as well. Had a super cool experience where Elder Terry and I were walking down the street and noticed a woman crying. We asked her what was wrong, and she told us how her husband just got put in jail for a year for old tickets. She told us her husband was a member and how it was crazy that we just happened to walk by and comfort her. As we were there she got word from her husband that his sentence was cut in half to 6 months. She was super grateful we were there and took down our number so in six months they can take us out to dinner.
Afterwards I was blessed to be able to see Masaru and get to know how he has been. We had a wonderful time. Definitely a day to remember. Also teaching with Elder Terry again felt so good. Dream team.
Thursday: weekly planning
Friday: We had the opportunity to go to the temple and have interviews as well. I had a really good interview with President and he had me try something new. I definitely learned a lot today
Saturday: Today was another amazing day. Our friend Emily was able to be baptized today. Now I did pretty much nothing to get Emily to this point, but it has been so awesome to get to know her. She is super sassy and will roast you over anything, but she loves this gospel a lot. We moved our District Council to today because of the temple, but we had an amazing district council and we have some fun district finding activities coming up this week and possibly next week.
Sunday: Emily was confirmed today by her dad and I gave the closing prayer for sacrament meeting. We had a really good ward council where we got to really have the auxiliaries understand us and help us in this work
It’s been a great week here everyone and I hope it’s been great back home! I love this gospel and I love being a missionary!
