Email: September 3, 2018 - Diligence and Obedience through trials
Well everyone what a week it has been! I hope all is well where you all may be when receiving this. Life is good!
Monday: For P-day we again hung out with Elder Terry and Elder Sands. We also went with the zone leaders and we did another hike in Palos Verdes. I love that place, man it's beautiful.
Tuesday: Today was a good day. We were able to build our relationship with the members at mutual and the young men's president had us help the young men in a service project
Wednesday: Well this morning at soccer I managed to sprain my ankle... Not gonna lie I thought I broke it at first. I heard a pop and a crack and pain instantly filled my foot. I just sat there thinking that my mission was over. Thankfully it's not!
So, due to nurse’s orders, I spent the whole day icing and elevating my ankle.
But someone in a part member family in our ward requested a blessing. So, I suited up and got going. And because of it we now have two new people to teach.
Thursday: Again, spent most of the day in the apartment studying and napping. We really wanted to go out and work especially since my ankle was starting to feel much, much better.
Friday: Wake up for exercise and my ankle feels good enough to at least play goalie for soccer. Now note people that this is a dumb idea. Please listen to your mission nurses. We get there, and I start to play goalie. Well, Elder Terry (my MTC comp) starts coming down the court at me with the ball. The defender kicks the ball away and it's stuck in the corner of the room. So, I decide to go for it and clear it. Well, Elder Terry gets there the same time as me and we have a little duel for the ball. He backs off a bit and says "aye man I don't want to hurt your ankle" 25 seconds after he says that my ankle gives out for a second and I have now reaggravated my sprain. Nice. But we still have a day ahead of us, so we took it easy but still went out and worked
Saturday: Today we did The Book of Mormon Experiment. Basically, how it works is we as missionaries dress down in our regular casual clothes. Catch is, we don't even wear our name tags. So basically, we have to be regular people and we have a little stand and some clipboards and ask people to read a page of religious text and mark references to God and Jesus Christ. Now mind you, this is a social experiment, so we don't have any missionary items with us. We spent about 3 hours doing it at Alondra Park (a massive park in our area). My district was kind enough to come help us out as well. It went well, and it was a lot of fun. Half the people that participated in the experiment were interested in learning more about the Book of Mormon.
Sunday: Church was really good. The testimony meeting was powerful. I got assigned to speak next week. We got to meet Mary who is a recent convert in the ward and began her new member lessons. We also set a baptismal day for her non-members kids to work towards. It was awesome. Right after we took off to the Adams ward to attend a baptism they had. Her name is Damitri and I taught her a few times before I got transferred.

Afterwards we had an awesome dinner with McKinzie family. They are a fun family and we laughed a ton at dinner. No matter where you go you will always find awesome people.
Life is good everyone. I wish more people knew that. Regardless of what happens things will work out in the end because our Father in Heaven has planned and guaranteed our victory, success, and happiness in all things of we desire it. We just need to be believing.
