Email: July 1, 2019 - The Sheriff and the deputy get a new mission president
Well everyone the time has come,
President Haynie has officially departed as of Friday morning and President
Cordón is now the mission president.
We had a nice opportunity to have
our zone conference on President Haynie's final day and he gave us some
wonderful advice as did Sister Haynie.
We also got awesome training on how
to be an essentialist by Greg McKeown. He is the Elders quorum president of the
Woodland Hills ward in our mission and he just published a book about
essentialism. He taught us a simple and easy way to put the important things
first and that there is always something you have to give up when making change
and decisions, so put the important things first. Simple and easy right?
Something we have always been taught since when we were kids. But when we look
at it how many things are unessential that we are investing too much time in?
And how many essential things do we underinvest in and put on hold? Kind of eye
opening once you realize.
This week for Elder Seipel and I has
been very busy with zone conference, exchanges, service and a bunch of other
meetings
We got the opportunity to help break
down a patio. We started with drills, but it wasn't really working so we busted
out some sledgehammers. It was a lot of fun and very stress relieving (not that
there is a lot of stress right now, just a nice chance to let things out)
We found a new friend this week
named Jesenia who is SUPER prepared to receive the gospel. She was asking a lot
of great questions in our first meeting and she was very willing to meet with
us again.
The weather here has been going back
and forth between being very hot and overcast. It seems like summer wants to
start but is having second thoughts.
That's about from me this week. Next
email you read from me will be about transfers so be sure to stay tuned.
Spiritual thought of the week: The
Book of Mormon is awesome. As I have been deeply studying it the past 3 months
it has enlightened my mind so much and has helped me in my trials. It has
taught me lessons on humility, patience, charity, faith, diligence and the
atonement of Jesus Christ that can't be learned any other way. The scriptures
have been given to us to enlighten us. When we think about the scriptures are
God's highlight reel of the history of the world! The most important events,
the most important dialogue, the most important discoveries and the most
important knowledge we can receive. Now why would we not want to read that?
I hope everyone has a great!
Take it slow and enjoy the moments!
