Email: September 9, 2019 - "Are they white?.... Then probably lasagna"

This week's quote comes from Elder Kim and I guessing what we were going to have for dinner last night at a member’s home. Elder Kim asked the question found above. I have also realized that I really haven't had that much lasagna or spaghetti on my mission, well at least not as much everyone says you get.

This week was a great week. A lot happened and we were very busy.

Monday: Picked up Elder Kim and we had 3 appointments

Tuesday: We did some service for a member in the morning. As we were pulling weeds in their yard, we got talking about my great uncle Keith and it turns out they have the car that he used to drive, so of course I took some pictures of it.

Wednesday: We had our district council meeting in the morning and had several appointments in the afternoon to keep us on our toes

Thursday: We had our weekly planning and Elder Kim's English class at the mission office. There were a lot of things that we needed to do down there and we didn't end up getting back to our area until 6pm. A nice blessing that was given to us was Google maps took us to some weird back road route home and it was honestly super nice. Not a lot of cars and it went right through the canyon. No houses or streetlights just the woods (yup I actually found the woods in LA) and spots for camping and hiking. Elder Kim and I have decided to take that route home every time now.

We also had a lesson with a part member family. The husband used to play professional rugby. After he retired he started working private security for shipping vessels fighting off pirates. Pretty sweet stuff

Friday: We spent a decent amount of time talking to people in the park. We talked to a nice lady who knows a lot about the church so we will see where things go with her.

Saturday: Saturday we had a couple of appointments and I also started “My Plan”. It was an awesome experience but the reality set in that I'll be going home soon

Sunday: We introduced Elder Kim to the new wards and we also looked at our dinner calendar and noticed we have a dinner every single day till the end of the transfer so that is super nice.

We were really busy, but we managed to fit everything into the schedule. At the end of the night we found ourselves at Cold Water Canyon Park enjoying the view to finish out our week.

Funny story of the week. Elder Kim and I were traveling across our area to go visit a referral we had gotten. While waiting at one of the lights there was a post for IT: Chapter 2. I pointed it out to Elder Kim but he has never heard of IT. So. I went on to explain to him the story line of IT and it was pretty funny to watch Elder Kim's reactions. In his own words he said "I just got goosebumps all over my body" in a Korean accent. I didn't do this story justice, but it was funny so please take my word for it.

Also, we had a nerf war in our apartment last night. It was me vs the Spanish elders. We had a standoff for about 5 minutes where we were both waiting for the other to round the corner. Eventually the Spanish Elders decided to make the first move. I'm laying down behind a door that is cracked open and next thing I know I see Elder Fawsett (Elder Fawsett is in his first transfer, he is 6'7 so this guy is massive) he comes flying around the corner with a black t-shirt tied around his head and pillows tied to him for armor. It was hilarious to watch because he throws a motion sensor ghost (it's a Halloween decoration) into a room and goes charging in guns blazing while I'm laying behind a door in the room down the hall staring at him going hardcore. It was hilarious.

Context for the ghost. We have been pranking each other by hiding the ghost in different areas to scare each other. Currently I have it hidden in the refrigerator.

I hope everyone has had a fantastic week!

Take it easy and enjoy the moments
