Email: September 23, 2019 - "Watch out Elders, you're walking into a war zone!"
The quote this week comes from me
actually. We had exchanges with our district leader Elder Russell who came to
my area. During our dinner hour we weren't hungry, so we decided to pass the
time by having a nerf war. It started out pretty normal but it escalated quickly.
Before I knew it the couch with our dinner table stacked on top of it was
blocking the hallway and had a blanket covering it. I'll send a picture.
This week was very busy for Elder
Kim and I. Covering two wards isn't easy by any means but it makes you feel
like you are accomplishing a lot at once which I have enjoyed. We still have a
lot of room to improve but we are seeing success and it's wonderful.
Monday. We had an awesome P-day! We
went out to Malibu to try some fish tacos (they were pretty average) but we
also drove Malibu canyon which is the exact border of the mission and it was
awesome! One of my favorite drives in the mission. We then finished out the day
with some soccer and driving through Topanga Canyon on our way home.
Tuesday: Exchanges and we began to
teach a new part member family. It was also the year mark of when I picked up
Elder Mora from the mission office and officially began training so we had a
small celebration
Wednesday: We had our district
council meeting in the morning which was fun followed by many contact attempts,
studies, and appointments
Thursday: We had some service in the
morning followed by 80¢ wings at Buffalo wild wings, we then went to the
mission office for English class
Friday: We had a chapel tour with
our new friend Chamberlain he enjoyed it and started asking us a lot of
questions about doctrine. He enjoyed the appointment and he wants to attend
church with us some time.
Saturday: We were super busy in the
morning with multiple appointments, so we did a brief split with the Burbank
Elders to cover our appointments, we then had weekly planning, studies and my
plan so that lasted us a good while. There was also a surprise party for a
member in the North Hollywood ward that we participated in for our dinner hour.
I also want to apologize for the
fact that I am not putting as much effort into these weekly emails anymore
(hence the lack of spell checking) but hey at least y’all are getting something
right?
Take it easy and enjoy the moments
-Elder Barton
